Shanghai Highland Games | 2025
The inaugural Shanghai Highland Games were held at NAIS Pudong, celebrating Scottish culture, sport, and community in true Highland spirit. Featuring traditional Highland events, piping, ceilidh music, and dancing, the day also proudly hosted China’s only solo piping competition.
Honorary Chieftain of the Games was 92-year-old Betty Barr, one of Shanghai’s most distinguished Scottish residents, who led the procession and officially opened the event alongside the massed pipe band. Her presence beautifully bridged Shanghai’s past and present Scottish connections.
The event brought together Scots, friends of Scotland, and the wider international community for an unforgettable celebration in Shanghai.
A heartfelt thank-you to all our sponsors and supporters — your generosity and enthusiasm helped make this inaugural event such a success and laid the foundation for a new Scottish tradition in Shanghai.
